Raymond Fong and Ferny Ceballos, only 4 years ago, we were Aerospace Engineers, highly educated, working on projects they are forbidden to speak about until the day they die. (Sounds cool, huh?)
Ferny went to college at MIT, the worlds leading science & technology institute, having studied Electrical Engineering and Computer Science; later earning a graduate degree from the University of Southern California (USC) in Electrical Engineering while working on highly classified defense programs. What makes his story so remarkable is that Ferny is a 2nd generation Mexican-American, born in East L.A. and son of poor Mexican immigrants.
The inspiration doesn’t end there – meet his business partner: Raymond Fong. Ray was born in Taiwan and was dirt poor as a child and moved to the United States when he was only 9 years old. His dream of becoming successful as an engineer, earning a cushy salary and retire his hardworking parents had just about become a reality ? well almost.
Ray was educated at Harvey Mudd College, with a Bachelors in Engineering and moved on to get a Masters from USC in Electrical Engineering. Like Ferny, Ray worked in defense on classified defense contracts, but not earning anywhere near what he would need to retire his parents.
With the cost of living in Los Angeles and the 40+% income taxes as a young single guy, they barely had enough to send a couple hundred bucks to their parents and pay the bills.
They felt so deceived by the promise of the American Dream. Having worked hard, got good grades, went to a good school, and got a safe secure job to justify the sacrifice of their parents. They followed that formula to the extreme and were miserable. Whether you are living on a $20,000 per year job or a $80,000 per year job, the ?rat race? is still the ?rat race? ? the only difference is the size of the cheese.
They asked, “There must be a better alternative than being stuck in 3 hours of traffic everyday, and wasting another 8 hours in a cubicle working on useless paper work for the government. Their education was going to waste and they needed to do something.
The solution to their problems, would come in an unlikely form – a journey taking them through sifting through MLM leads, recruiting friends & family and many embarrassing moments…
