I love the way all these people selling search engine optimization techniques and tools act like you have to have all this training to put your site at the top of the search engines. I taught myself how to do it in a matter of a few months, with some very simple techniques. I have all kinds of websites on the first page of Google for competitive keywords only because I know how to do it.
I have to be able to make you understand that everyone selling these SEO products probably does know what they are doing, however they are really internet marketers. Nobody who has figured out SEO is not doing some type of internet marketing. The key to successful internet marketing is repeat sales, so each of these people selling these courses has you on the hook to spend more and more money even if they don’t teach you a thing.
Let me tell you how I figured this out. I had a friend who let me borrow a very good product written by Brad Fallon which went through very detailed information on SEO. I was so determined to learn I took comprehensive notes. After I was done learning I decided that this time I would succeed in figuring out SEO regardless of what I had to do.
The course disappointed me, however. Though it was presented well, it was the same old stuff I had read on forums and been doing for years. It doesn’t work. There is no magic code you can put in your page, as a matter of fact that doesn’t really even matter. There is no keyword density that is special, and reciprocal linking didn’t work I had been doing that for 4 years.
Like I said, I was determined so I kept working. I ended up finding a way to score thousands of backlinks to my site without a lot of work. These backlinks took very little work and they were not requested of the site, the sites wanted me to have them. They were not from linkfarms and never got me penalized. I not only got to page one, but several of my sites had an excellent Google PR within a few weeks!
